Plumbing problems are incredibly disruptive to your day to day life. They can be messy, expensive, and time-consuming. If you’ve ever had a plumbing emergency or a massive plumbing problem, you know how awful they can be. You might have to pay for repairing damaged wood and upholstery. You might have to replace pipes or flooring. And in certain cases, you might even have to spend some time staying at a motel while it’s being fixed. However, there is hope. Massive plumbing problems are almost always avoidable. You simply need to know a few early warning signs for plumbing problems and what they might mean.
Several Drains Backing Up
If you have several drains backing up, bubbling in multiple drains, or slow draining in multiple fixtures, you’ve probably got a problem with your main sewage line. Plumbing involves one or two pipes that bring water to your house and then branch off to your sinks, toilets and such. Then they reconnect into one main sewage line as they’re leaving the house. If you’ve got a backup in a sewage line, several drains in your house will also back up because they all feed into the same drain. Get that looked at quickly. Quality plumbers can fix it before it becomes a big problem.
Dripping Fixtures
Dripping fixtures can be incredibly annoying, but if it’s only one fixture, you’re probably not in very much trouble. You should attempt to tighten any knobs on your sink to see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn’t fix it, you should probably call someone to come look at the fixture. You’ll likely need to replace your faucet, but that’s much better than letting the problem grow.
Plumbing problems can grow into incredibly big inconveniences, but they don’t have to. If you’re prepared, you can avoid that.
